1998Portfolio - Key Point Software
Hewlett-Packard Intranet Site
I worked at Key Point Software from January to July 1998 where I served as a Web Applications Consultant. As an employee of Key Point, I was often sent out to client offices to provide advice and technical support for both internal and external on-line communications. While working as a front-end developer, I also performed work as a project manager, organizing projects with Key Point engineers, graphic designers, and clients, guiding projects from start to finish.
In this capacity, my largest projects while at Key Point were for Hewlett-Packard and Larscom Corporation. Working both on-site at Hewlett-Packard's corporate headquarters in Palo Alto, California and at Key Point, I was both front-end developer and project manager for the design and construction of Hewlett-Packard's Environment, Health and Safety Division's global intranet website (see screenshot at left). In addition to working as a front-end developer, where I constructed all HTML templates used on the site, I organized and directed meetings that decided strategy and direction throughout the duration of the project. At Larscom Corporation in San Jose, California, I worked directly with the company's vice-president and other mid-level managers in providing advice and technical support for their corporate website. Again I worked as a front-end developer and project manager, working together with Key Point designers and engineers in redesigning the company's corporate website, guiding the project from start to finish.
At Key Point, I also provided training courses in HTML and Microsoft Front Page as well as general introductory courses to the web for executives throughout Silicon Valley which were held either at Key Point or on-site at client offices. As an instructor, I was responsible for the preparation and creation of course materials used in these courses.
