VisitNew York Times
I think this site needs no introduction. The site requires registration, although it is completely free. The Republicans love to bash the New York Times as a bastion of the liberal press, however if that were the case why would people like William Safire and David Brooks be the successful conservative columnists they are? A great site to rummage through for news, editorials, book and movie reviews and much more. - more
VisitBBC World News

You are not likely to see the Emmy Awards take precedence over famines in Africa here. - more
VisitGuardian Unlimited
I have discovered this site only in recent months, and it has quickly become one of my favorite news outlets. Reading articles and editorials in this page would almost lead one to think that we live in a completely different world than the one reported in the most popular news outlets. The World News page is simply excellent and it's election coverage has been one of the best. It is one of the first sites I read every morning. - more
VisitWashington Post
Another site that needs no introduction. While the site has a whole plate of great features, I have to admit I mostly get political news and editorials from this site a few times a week. - more
VisitGoogle News

Yahoo News is also a good source, but Google News takes you straight to the horse's mouth, whereas Yahoo keeps you within Yahoo. - more
