Quotes to Consider…
While reading the online edition of the Washington Post this weekend, I came across an article about Gerald Ford titled “Ford’s Vietnam ‘No Point In Being Bitter’”, written by Bob Woodward and Christine Parthemore. In it he reflects on his role in bringing an end to the Vietnam War, a conflict he inherited from his predecessors, yet one he was left to put to a final resolution.
Looking at the larger picture of the conflict, Ford had this to say:
“I don’t think we can force democracy on people or a nation that aren’t prepared for it. But that doesn’t mean we should go to war to change their mind.”
I wish we had a president of clear mind today to think of such a thing…
