The Endorsements
The endorsements for president are coming in from all quarters now. While it seems that most of the endorsements are going Kerry’s way, there are some going Bush’s way too.
Reading through some of the quotes of the endorsements given to Bush gives the impressions that despite four years of extreme administration policies both at home and abroad, there are some that think Bush will show a softer side:
The Indianapolis Star endorsed Bush on Oct. 17:
It is time for experience and resolve, which is why George Bush should be re-elected for a second term. Without a re-election facing him, the president can move to do those things he said he would do in his first presidential campaign ….
My comment: Are they saying that a president should serve a full term before doing what he promised four years earlier? Where does this “experience and resolve” come from if Bush is supposed to fulfill his four year old promises in a second term? When will people realize that if it had not been for September 11th, 2001, Bush would be the greatest lame duck president to ever occupy the White House. Since he has no accomplishments to account for from the past four years, his only issue to wave before the voters is his supposed strong leadership of the war on terror.
The Repository, Canton, Ohio, endorsed Bush on Oct. 17:
Despite his mistakes, America knows who Bush is. He has led the country through immense troubles. Kerry, burdened by all the votes that came in the U.S. Senate for 20 years, still leaves many questions about what kind of president he would be.
My comment: So, Americans should favor a mistake-proned man who supposedly knows who he is? How can people be so enamored with someone who “knows who he is”? Don’t the three debates show enough of the clarity in which Kerry speaks, the resolve in how he says it? Doesn’t the experience of a 20 year senate career, a career as a prosecutor and a tour through Vietnam say anything? Kerry’s accomplishments far outweigh anything Bush has done prior to his presidency, and to say that isn’t enough to know who Kerry is is preposterous! It’s a sad state of affairs when are large amounts of people whoo settle for the huge inadequacies of a man such as George W. Bush instead of a man tested under the most extreme of situations.
